Front Nozzle Leaks

If you notice water dripping or leaking from the front of your Stream Machine (the nozzle area), it is usually normal in small amounts, but heavy leaking can reduce pressure and shorten your stream distance. Because Stream Machine launchers fill and shoot through the front opening, a little seepage can happen after filling. Use this guide to tell what is normal and how to fix leaks that affect performance.

Is Front Dripping Normal?

Yes, a small amount of dripping from the nozzle can be normal, especially right after filling or between shots. The launcher is designed to move water in and out through the front, and some water may drain if the launcher is held downward or shaken.

  • Light dripping right after filling is usually normal.
  • Dripping increases if the nozzle is pointed downward.
  • Heavy leaking that empties the tube quickly is not normal and can reduce range.

Most Common Cause: Air in the Tube or Partial Fill

If air is trapped inside the tube, the water column is interrupted and can drain out more easily from the front. A partial fill can also cause water to slosh and spill out of the nozzle.

Fix: Refill Slowly With the Nozzle Fully Submerged

  • Extend the handle fully to empty the tube.
  • Submerge the nozzle completely under water.
  • Pull the handle back slowly and smoothly while keeping the nozzle underwater.
  • Keep the nozzle submerged until the pull is complete.
  • Lift the launcher out level (not downward) and shoot with a smooth push.

Debris at the Nozzle Can Prevent a Good Seal

Sand, grit, grass, or small particles can sit at the front opening and interfere with smooth flow. This can cause uneven streams, extra dripping, or reduced pressure.

Fix: Flush the Nozzle and Tube With Clean Water

  • Fill a bucket or tub with clean water.
  • Submerge the nozzle and cycle the handle 10–15 times to flush debris.
  • Replace the bucket water if it becomes cloudy, then repeat.
  • After lake or beach use, rinse thoroughly before storing.

Technique and Storage Can Make Leaks Worse

Because the nozzle is the opening for filling and shooting, how you hold and store the launcher matters. Pointing the nozzle down after filling can cause faster draining. Storing the launcher with water inside may also lead to slow dripping and residue buildup.

Fix: Hold Level and Store Empty

  • After filling, keep the launcher level or slightly upward.
  • Do not store it filled with water.
  • Drain the tube by cycling the handle once or twice and let it air dry.

Check for Damage or Wear

If the front leak is heavy and constant even after a proper refill and flush, there may be a crack, a worn internal seal, or damage around the nozzle or front section. This can prevent the launcher from maintaining pressure.

Signs It May Need Replacement or Warranty Help

  • Water pours out quickly and the tube will not stay filled.
  • You see visible cracks near the tip, tube, or front section.
  • The launcher cannot build pressure even with correct filling technique.
  • Leak behavior does not change after flushing and refilling.

Quick Test to Identify the Cause

  • Refill slowly with the nozzle fully submerged.
  • Hold the launcher level for 10 seconds.
  • Note whether dripping is light (normal) or heavy (problem).
  • Shoot one smooth stream and evaluate range and consistency.

If Performance Is Good, Minor Dripping Is Usually Fine

If your stream remains strong and the launcher holds water long enough to shoot normally, small nozzle dripping is typically not a defect. If leaking empties the tube quickly or reduces range, use the fixes above and contact support if the issue persists.
