Cleaning After Use

Cleaning your Stream Machine after pool or salt water use helps keep the handle sliding smoothly and maintains strong stream performance. Chlorine, salt, and minerals can leave residue inside the tube and nozzle, which may cause sticking, buildup, odors, or reduced distance over time. The steps below take only a few minutes and are recommended after heavy pool use or any ocean/beach use.

Quick Cleaning Summary

  • Flush the tube and nozzle with clean fresh water.
  • Cycle the handle several times to rinse internal surfaces.
  • Drain completely and let it dry before storage.
  • Do not store filled with pool or salt water.

Step-by-Step: After Pool Use (Chlorine)

Pool water can leave chemical residue that dries inside the tube. A simple rinse and flush is usually enough.

Fresh Water Flush

  1. Fill a bucket or tub with clean fresh water (tap water is fine).
  2. Submerge the nozzle completely and pull the handle back slowly to fill.
  3. Push the handle forward to shoot water back into the bucket.
  4. Repeat 10–15 cycles to flush the inside of the tube and nozzle.
  5. Empty the tube by pushing the handle fully forward.

Optional: Extra Rinse for Heavy Pool Use

  • If the launcher was used for hours in the pool, dump the bucket and refill with fresh water, then repeat a second flush cycle.
  • If you notice sticky movement, use warm (not hot) clean water for the flush cycles.

Step-by-Step: After Salt Water Use (Ocean/Beach)

Salt water dries into crystals that can increase friction and cause sticking or wear. Always rinse and flush with fresh water after ocean use.

Fresh Water Flush (Recommended)

  1. Rinse the exterior with fresh water to remove sand and salt residue.
  2. Fill a bucket or tub with fresh water.
  3. Submerge the nozzle fully and slowly pull the handle back to fill.
  4. Push forward to shoot into the bucket.
  5. Repeat 15–20 cycles, replacing the bucket water if it becomes cloudy or sandy.

Remove Sand Before You Flush

If you were at the beach, rinse off sand first so grit does not get pulled into the tube during flushing. Avoid refilling in shallow shoreline water where sediment is stirred up.

Drying and Storage Tips

Proper drying prevents odors and helps keep the handle moving freely.

  • After flushing, push the handle fully forward to drain the tube.
  • Shake out remaining water from the nozzle end (gentle shakes only).
  • Store in a shaded, ventilated area until dry.
  • Avoid leaving the launcher in a hot car or direct sunlight for long periods.

Do Not Store It Filled

Storing with pool or salt water inside can cause residue buildup and sticking. Always drain and dry after use.

What Not to Use

  • Do not use bleach, harsh cleaners, or solvents.
  • Do not use oils, grease, or household lubricants inside the tube.
  • Do not use soaps or additives in the water you shoot.

Troubleshooting After Cleaning

Handle still feels sticky

  • Flush again with clean warm water and cycle the handle 10–15 times.
  • Let it dry fully before storing.

Stream seems weaker than normal

  • Prime the launcher by refilling slowly with the nozzle fully submerged to remove air.
  • Check for debris in the nozzle and flush with clean bucket cycles.

A quick fresh-water flush after pool use and a thorough rinse after salt water use will help your Stream Machine last longer and keep it shooting strong season after season.
